New Atarian: Tommy Thomas - The Atari Times

New Atarian: Tommy Thomas

Actually got TAT off the ground again

I guess I really don't have much of a story to tell. I'm 18 years old and I didn't really care for consoles much when I was younger. But within the past couple of months, I have really taken an interest to Atari and the consoles as well as the games they made. I like simple things and to me, the games that you could play on an Atari are simple and fun, unlike some games of today.

I've asked people that I know what they thought of Atari, and most of them either said they never had an Atari, they only had Nintendo, and some of them said they didn't know what an Atari was! To think that the founding company of videogames cannot even be remembered is a real shame. When I would go to visit some of my friends when I was younger, they had Nintendo's, and I tried one. Needless to say, I could not enjoy it, I couldn't understand how people were going crazy over something so cheesy in my opinion.

Although I don't have an Atari, I used to play one with a friend until he sold it. But I loved the hours of playing all of those old favorites. I still find that the Atari as far as the fun factor runs circles around any Playstation or N64 out there. I will always hold a place in my heart for Atari as I believe that Atari will always be around in some form or another.
