Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands - The Atari Times

Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands

It kinda looks pretty
by Gregory D. George

I'm overjoyed that Atari did not tarnish the Battlezone name with this game! (This was to be Battlezone for the Jaguar.) The only thing good about this game is the full motion video at the beginning. Obviously the cart version lacks this as well as some other graphic tweaks, but they're essentially the same game. Like Aircars, the missions are rather uninspired. I really don't care about the story line in the game. The controls are a little weird, but that's how hovercraft behave I suppose. The problem is the low frame rate which makes it an all around exercise in frustration. I thought games were meant to be fun??

What kills it? Lousy frame rate.

It's Hover Strike...
This doesn't look so bad. That's what Atari thought too. Decreasing the texturing would have made it playable.
