Primal Rage - The Atari Times

Primal Rage

Just a mini-review for now
by Gregory D. George

April 19, 2001
For some reason, I thought that this game would actually sell the Jaguar. It was to be a perfect conversion of a popular arcade game. I love the premise: Dinos fighting it out Mortal Kombat-style. Alas, it was finally released towards the end of the Jaguar's life, and only for Jaguar CD which reduced sales even more.

The real flaw of this game is the horrendous load times. They're just awful. And with fighting games, you can lose your grove quickly, so you want to get into the next fight as fast as possible. That won't happen with Primal Rage. I've also found Talon the easiest because you can perform the same move over and over and win by forcing your opponent in the corner.

Graphics and sounds are arcade perfect, as are the controls. As a game, though it gets pretty repetitive. But I like it anyway.

Thanks to the new format, you'll be getting a full review soon.
Blood flies everywhere in this game. Notice the exploded heart representing the death of Chaos.
LAVA!!
