You call this a title screen?!

Just worry about the bottom guy and you'll be alright.

Watch out for dive bombers!

Great

Demon Attack is one of the best 2600 games period. There, I said it. It isn't my favorite, but it is a great game that combines intense gameplay with good graphics and sound to make one of the best games like it for the 2600.

The idea behind this Imagic is that the invading "Space Demons" want to destroy you and you need to stop them. There are three of them on screen at a time, all animated with relatively good graphics. In later levels, the Demons burst into two parts and if you destroy one, the other starts swooping down at you. You are a little upside-down U shaped thing at the bottom and you must shoot them. If you miss or get hit by one of them, you lose a life. You have three lives to start with.

Sounds relatively simple, but the challenge here is huge. The demons will fire different shots at you that get progressively harder, and they swoop back and forth quickly. If you don't watch out, you can quickly be cornered and destroyed, which makes a satisfactory horrible noise.

Overall, Demon Attack is a great shooting style game for your 2600. If you like any other shooting games from Space Invaders to River Raid, you'll love this game!

Hybrid-Birdie Attack Seems More Like It by Guitarman 2008-04-10 22:16:45
Whatever the name is, this game still has worked its way into 2600 history. It didn't get there by mistake but with all the elements that make a great game. First off, the controls are VERY responsive and we all know that user friendly controls can make or break a game. The graphics have a fresh look to them which can't be said about alot of slopped together 2600 games. The sound effects do the job well but nothing to be jumping for joy over.
Demon Attack will forever remain a great 2600 classic with plenty of replay value in it. I have given this game an overall 90%.
