October 3, 2007 - Time for more outer space action! Although a large part of this game is on planets... Hey, if you can't find a copy of Solaris, give Moonsweeper a shot!
September 24, 2007 - If adventure has a name, it must be called Indiana Jo... Oh I mean, "Panama" Joe! Meet the original Tomb Raider in one of Parker Brothers few original games for the 2600!
September 10, 2007 - Looking back on the venerable Atari 2600, do you really think that a pseudo flight simulator is a game you'd enjoy? Ok, it's less of a flight sim and more of a "shoot 'em up" but it's a nice one. Check it out!
August 29, 2007 - Do you ever feel like you're lost in a maze? No? Well, give this game a try. Then you can know what it's like to be lost AND stalked!
August 20, 2007 - It's time for football season again! And Madden '08 was just released! Take a trip back to the early days of Atari with the original football game and see how far things have progressed!
August 14, 2007 - Admit it. You pounded the heck out of the arcade version of Track and Field. And when you learned there was no 2600 version, you ran out and got the next best thing: Activision's Decathalon. Well, it took Atari many years later, but the arcade game you love finally did make it to the 2600. Check it out...
August 7, 2007 - There truly were an endless supply of shooters back then, weren't there? And what's worse is when you end up with a knock-off that was originally a Taiwanese game! Anyway, here's Rob Adair's review of Zeller's Time Warp.
July 30, 2007 - Are you ready to topple some towers? In this game you're a frog (?) roaming around in your submarine (!) shooting fish, attacking towers (?!), shooting eyeballs (!!!!!), and avoiding floating molecules (?????). One of the strangest ideas for a game happens to be one of the best for the 7800...
July 13, 2007 - Did you think Doom was the first First Person Perspective maze game? Oh, you know it was Wolfenstein 3D right? No wait. It was MIDI-Maze! Or maybe it was Maze War... Anyway, here's an amazing game for your 2600!
July 6, 2007 - This is such a cool idea for a game, it's beyond words... It's a A+ video game made like a B movie! Plenty of robots to shoot and scantily clad women to save. You know what to do...
June 27, 2007 - Ok, why doesn't Kangaroo get it's fair due? Is it because Mario was first? Is it because of that silly black & white film of a man fighting a kangaroo? Or is it because this isn't really Atari's game? Well, anway. Check out Darryl's review.
June 19, 2007 - Now this is the kind of thing we like to see. Surprises! This collection of mini-games came out of nowhere recently and wowed us with some fantastic graphics! Find out what you've been missing out on!
June 12, 2007 - What do you say that's a hack of a pirate game that uses characters from other games merging them all together into a weird hack? I dunno. Better read the review yourself.
June 4, 2007 - Our ongoing series shows you the side-by-side comparison of arcade conversions ported to the 2600. Homebrews and Protos are even included. Check out games I to R!
May 27, 2007 - Welcome to Craps! Oh... That doesn't sound too good. I've always thought that this particular game sounded very crude. Oh well. If you like the real game, you might enjoy this version for your 8-bit computer.
May 19, 2007 - Funny how this article came down the pipe at the same time as the Cuttle Cart 3 is released! (Totally coincidental, I assure you.) Forget what we know today... If you were a 12 year old kid back in 1982, which system would you rather have? The Intellivision or the Atari?
May 11, 2007 - Not satisfied with the original Atari 2600 version of Warlords, Darrell Spice Jr. has recreated the arcade game which includes the dragon and a few other surprises. Read the full review here...
April 30, 2007 - Now it's the 2600's turn... Our ongoing series gives you a side-by-side comparison of arcade conversions ported to the 2600. As tough as the 2600 is to program, some of these turned out pretty good. Check out games A to H.
April 23, 2007 - Arabian is one of those overlooked games that needs some home conversions. (I think there was a NES version though.) So, if you haven't tried it, it's not your fault! Fire it up in MAME and I bet you'll enjoy it.
April 16, 2007 - Along with Robotech and Voltron, Thundercats was a favorite show of mine back in the mid-80's. I'm not surprised there are video games for it, but a game on the Atari ST? Maybe this is worth checking out... Now, where's my Voltron game?
April 10, 2007 - The 5200 had some really great arcade conversions back in the day. See how the 5200 and 8-bit games compare with the original arcade versions!
April 4, 2007 - In the future, cybernetically enhanced humanoids rampage and kill everything in sight. Or so the predictions say. Now you can join the enhanced bio-dudes and do some rampaging yourself I guess...
March 25, 2007 - Before the great Pac-Man Collection hack was released, we had this great individual hack turning Ms. Pac-Man into Pac-Man. You can still get this version in the Collection, but here's the rundown of the original hack...
March 19, 2007 - As the sequel to one of the most popular 2600 games ever, how would this one fare? No longer content with a left- right- avoid- the- baddies- and- shoot- the- bridge simple game, River Raid II enters the realm of complexity and frustration.
March 12, 2007 - It's baaack! I've been holding on to these "Arcade to Atari" pages for awhile. So here's the first to return. Check out these comparisons between the arcade version and the Lynx versions! (Warning! Graphics heavy!)
March 5, 2007 - For those of you looking to replicate the thrill of actual sky diving... well, you'll be rather disappointed with this game. But if you're looking to prove your skills as a sky diver... well, this probably won't work either. Anyway, at least Atari was trying to come up with new ideas!
February 26, 2007 - For a game that started on the Atari Program Exchange, Caverns of Mars has really made a name for itself. It was even featured as a 2600 version on the Flashback 2! See where it all started on the 8-bit!
February 18, 2007 - Not exactly the top of the heap when it comes to fighting games, at least it isn't DOUBLE Dragon 5! The good thing about Dragon is that you can compare it with the Genesis and SNES versions. Naturally, the Jaguar version is the best.
February 11, 2007 - Who would have guessed that Double Dragon would ever be ported to the 2600! Well, see if it's something worth playing or if Abobo should smash it to bits.
February 3, 2007 - Darryl just keeps on making me jealous because I don't have a Vectrex. Check out this run down of Atari games converted to the Vectrex, including some excellent homebrews!
January 29, 2007 - Activision didn't really spruce up their 5200 versions all that much. Maybe it's because they had already pushed the 2600 as far as it could go? Anyway, here's Ryan's take on the Activision classic.
January 23, 2007 - Here's a game where the main character actually does WORK! (Mario just bops around in the mushroom kingdom.) Bristles is a mix between Mario and Make Trax, and it's pretty fun!
January 19, 2007 - Atari, always trying to do something new... Asteroids was still pretty big, but it got pretty easy manuvering your ship around. Now, what happens if they add gravity and a story?!
January 15, 2007 - This is what happens when you've got an okay idea and someone else takes it and makes it their own. Did Activision make any original games!?
January 9, 2007 - Finally a Pac-Man game on the 2600 that no one could complain about! It's got tons of scrolling mazes, lots of nuance, plenty of toys to eat(!), and multi colored ghosts (or monsters if you prefer.) In fact, the only problem with the game is that it may be TOO good!
January 5, 2007 - So who is tired of the ultra real games like Madden 2007? Whatever happened to the fun, medieval football games like Pigskin Footbrawl or Super High Impact? Here's one of the more fun sports games on the Jaguar.
January 1, 2007 - When the original arcade game was released, it was a graphics powerhouse. Few companies had done "3D" game using 2D hardware! Atari must have been crazy to try to port Crystal Castles to the 2600!
